How to Choose a Selfie Stick Tripod
Three numbers decide which selfie stick tripod sells: how short it folds, how far it reaches, and what it weighs. Everything else — the mount, the light, the controls — is chosen after those three. Here is how the eleven tripod models in our catalog differ on each one.
1. Folded length decides whether it travels
A tripod that does not fit a pocket or a small bag gets left at home, whatever its reach. As a working rule:
- Under 200 mm fits a jacket pocket, a small handbag or an accessory pouch.
- 200–300 mm is a bag item — still portable, but it needs a compartment.
- Over 300 mm is a planned-purchase item: carried in a backpack or kept on a desk.
Two models fold to 115 mm, the smallest in the range: the F07 and the MagSafe-compatible F08. Both extend past 400 mm, so compactness does not cost much reach.
2. Extended reach decides what can be photographed
The extension range, not the folded size, is what a buyer feels in use:
- Around 400–500 mm — selfies, two-person shots and desk use.
- Around 1–1.3 m — group shots, full-body framing and table-top video.
- Over 1.5 m — overhead angles, event and crowd shots, hands-free video.
3. Weight only matters above 1 m
In the pocket range, every model is light enough to ignore. Once a stick passes a metre the weight is what tells a buyer whether it feels solid or tiring, so compare it against the reach:

4. Then pick the features that carry the price
- Lighting. The L12D and C12D add a dual LED fill light — for indoor and evening use the light, not the length, is the selling point.
- Attachment. The F08 holds a MagSafe phone magnetically; the C20 combines a magnet with a clamp; the F06, F16, L16 and C20 also carry a 1/4″ screw. See Phone mount interfaces explained.
- Automatic framing. The C17 adds a 360° rotation gimbal with AI face tracking, and the P03 brings the same idea to a desktop gimbal. These are the models to quote when a buyer asks for hands-free shooting.
5. A five-line buying checklist
- What does the end customer carry it in? That fixes the folded length.
- What is the hardest shot they described? That fixes the reach.
- Will it be held for long periods? That fixes the weight band.
- Is the phone MagSafe, clamped, or does the buyer also want to mount a camera? That fixes the interface.
- Does the price need a light, or AI tracking, to justify the step up?
